An interesting oral מענה of Rav Gershon Ribner on Yeshivaleit and exercise and healthy lifestyle was published a few days ago, in which he responds to a query along the lines of why many yeshivaleit are not regular gym goers, runners, weight lifters, along lines of the general population, and so on. Take a listen if you want to hear his response.
To the discussion I wish to add something I just saw online, about "incidental exercise", חכמה בגוים תאמין, from the BBC, entitled " How we can exercise more without even trying". According to it, even small things like fidgeting have value in terms of exercise. So shuckeling, bowing during davening, standing, vigorously gesticulating during learning, and other such things do count toward healthy living. Not to mention exertions of childcare and more. So you don't need to join a gym. Just use your seichel, and your גוף in a normal way. And remember that walking is great exercise too. וזה פשוט ליודעי דבר ולמבינים.
זיי געזונד און שטארק ברוחניות ובגשמיות
