Numerous interesting comments on this intriguing episode.
Seems that there is a Breslov teaching that one day the whole world will be Breslov. And Chabad tries to sell their way to all. But Reb Yisroel Dov Odesser, founder of the Na-Nach Breslov, allegedly said that Chabad is sheker. Breslov seeks out kivrei tzadikim to visit, while Chabad generally does not (outside their own leaders).
An encounter of two of the most aggressive, fringe, competing Hasidic groups has a nice ending.
My Hebrew is Shvach so could you explain what happened.
ReplyDeleteA video clip was circulating of a Breslov Na-Nach van that was stuck in hilly terrain in the Galilee in ארץ ישראל, being pulled out, rescued by a Lubavitch messianic jeep. Click on the video in the page linked to to see it. So a writer worked to find the background of the unusual scene. Turns out that the Breslov van had gone to visit a kever (grave) there, alleged to be that of Reish Lakish, from the gemara, and had gotten stuck. So people had a field day with humorous comments about Chabad & Breslov, also there were reflections on the relationship between the two, the competition, the commonality. Especially of the openly messianic and Na-Nach factions, but also in general.
DeleteBoth border on idolatry...
DeleteYou're right, but I wouldn't equate them. The na nachs are just nuts but Chabad is Avoda Zarah Mamash(Menachem Mendel Schneersohn). Moreover Chabad proselytizes.
